Planet Explorers Alpha v0.1 Released!
Alright everyone, grab it while it's hot (here: http://www.indiedb.com/games/planet-explorers/downloads/planet-explorers... you'll have to wait for Indiedb to authorize it first, probably 0-2 days)! After you play through it please report any bugs you encounter on our boards. Also, if you have any questions please ask on our boards as well, since we don't want our email to be clogged, teehee.
After so much hard work (we started on this last July, we're a small team, so we don't do things very fast, hehe), we've finally got something to show for. Planet Explorers Alpha v0.1 will allow you to somewhat see what we're aiming for, I say "somewhat" because a bunch of the things we want to implement aren't in yet. We'll be updating the alpha throughout the summer until Beta in late fall. Here are the requirements for the alpha (it's for PC only, don't ask us for any other versions since we don't have the resources or manpower to do them anyway):

In Planet Explorers, you will be able to get things called scripts, that tells you the required materials needed to craft something. So far in alpha v0.1, there are about ~35 scripts. There are 10 types of material, including wood, dirt, sand, stone, limestone, marble, bronze, iron, steel, and gold. A useful script would be the monster beacon, you can get it from the NPC character Chen. The monster beacon allows you to start a tower defense game at any time, anywhere. There is an end of the world for the alpha, since we only uploaded the voxel data for 1 section of the map. And do be careful, right now the punishment for death is -20% of your building materials.
Alpha v0.2 should come in about 2 weeks.

It autosaves at the moment, but saving is still being optimized, so yeah, it's buggy in this version.
iMac with boot camp cant get my avatar to move the wasd just does nothing. Anything i can do to fix
I think the iMac's graphics card can't support opencl, that's why the voxels aren't generating. To do smooth voxels, we have to use fairly new hardware.
Pathea, I have found a couple of bugs:
Rolling/Dodging does not work in First Person View.
You zoom in and get the first person perspective, but you cannot roll by pressing the Q and E keys.
Attacking/Harvesting/Using item was bugged up.
At the beginning of the scenario, I was able to dig, cut trees and communicate. I believe the problem was one of the large dinosaur like animals had attacked me, reducing me to half health. For some odd reason, I would not be able to attack, dig, or cut from then on. I am going to try and replicate this as soon as possible.

Same here; I've registered, registring seems to work, but if I try to login either nothing happens or I get the message 'ConnectionFailed'.
Seems terrain generation doesn't work. I've got the same issue as Scott with his iMac, but I've got a quite new custom built computer with Windows 7 Ultimate as OS.
I've got an ATI Radeon HD 4800 with latest firmware.
Well, telling the truth, I can see some terrain with vegetation and a shuttle right below me, but I fly in mid-air and I can't move
Having the same problem as Farfalk. Im loading in floating mid air above the shuttle. All around me is ocean, but on the mini map I can see Im supposed to be on land. The only thing indicating Im on land other than that is that there is grass and vegetation below me at water level, but no land.
yeah have a radeon hd 6870,8gig ram,win 7 64 and i5-3750k processor same problem as farfalk and bodis i can see the ship and grass and some tree,look like a really nice looking game sadly ground is invisible and i can't move and im hovering in the air
I'm having the same issue as Gember and Roneet. Clicking login does nothing, but the registration process seems to work just fine.
Additionally, trying to access the "options" and "other" tabs in the main menu just causes a brief flash of what looks like a ship interior before the game just reverts back to the main menu
Me too. Updated my graphics drivers, opened any ports I can think of and still getting Connection Failed. I have posted on the forum about this but no response yet. Will post again if I find out anything.
I've got the same problems as those above me, no terrain, floating above the ship, and no control at all. Like Stoup, the options menu doesn't seem to be working either at the main menu or while in game. I've got a Phenom2 X4 945 3ghz, Radeon HD 5570, 8gig ram, Win7 home premium.
I'd also be nice if you could add a 'remember me' button so I don't have to retype my name/password each time I start the game.
Good luck with this guys, it looks like it'll be a neat game once you get further along and had some time to work out some of the gremlins. I'll check back in a week or so to see if it's playable then maybe tell some of my friends about it if it's as good as I think it'll be.
Any follow up for the guys who have no land, hover, no options menu, avatar movement frozen? anything to help solve this bug?

As far as we know, ATI cards HD5000 series or above, Nvidia cards GT240 or above should all support OpenCL and load the terrain fine. The reason you're floating in the air is that the voxel data didn't generate the polygon data of the terrain due to the lack of OpenCL. In the case that you have the above mentioned cards, upgrade your drivers will fix the problem. If you have cards below that level, then it becomes Russian roulette as we don't have the resources to test them all.
We are still testing HD4000 series cards as originally we thought they're suppose to work but it seems like there are problems.

Goto the documents folder of windows and delete the savedata folder. Although your issue kinda sounds like a GPU problem (read the newest blog post).

Hey Guys! LOVE the Alpha, but I've run into a ton of 'game ending, must delete my save to restart' bugs. I know the new version is due soon, will much of that be fixed? Sorry that I couldn't play through more, but the Alpha did a fantastic job of whetting my appetite for what's to come, completely sold on the idea! Keep up the great work!!! :O)

This is really starting to look as pretty cool game, even considering the Bugs.
For the short time that I played the main things I noticed were:
- The action but is bit difficult to figure out and sometimes it’s difficult to understand if your hitting anything.
- After a couple of minutes the action buttons didn’t let do anything (dig, cut trees, attack…). After I logged of and back again, everything would be back in order for a couple of minutes, then back to the same routine.
- As for the save I understand that it has some glitches at the moment, so I don’t know if this is on purpose or not, never the less the trees that had previously been cut down would appear on the map once again after I load the game.
- Regarding the emplacement, after I placed some turrets on my base near the ship I went exploring for a while, unfortunately when I returned to my base all the emplacements had disappeared.
For additional stuff I haven’t played that long so that I might have anything in mind that might not already be in the game. Never the less keep up the good work as this is turning out to be a really promising game.

I have a bug. When i place arrow towers, and go away from them, they disappear permanently. When I return, they are no more. They are disappeared. This happens always, when i go somewhere away from them. I hate placing them again and again.
